At our central location on Cuna Street, you can meet our incredibly knowledgable and creative staff. At The Golden Gypsy, we celebrate #LifeAsArt.Golden Gypsy

Co-owner Jason Relph says, "Even though merchandise at The Golden Gypsy is one of a kind, we know once the pieces are sold, we'll have to locate and re-order new creations from the same artists and also seek new merchandise from the region, the U.S. and around the globe. This is not mass produced commercial merchandise or fair trade art. It's produced by individuals and families who create from the heart and sell to those who understand the world art movement with a look and feel that's contemporary with a traditional twist."

A well-respected gay artist, Relph along with his mother not only bring you The Golden Gypsy, but they also run other well-established businesses in St. Augustine such as Crucial Coffee and The Gourmet Hut on Charlotte and Cuna Streets in the original blacksmith and harness shops adjacent to Fort Castillo de San Marcos.

Downtown St. Augustine

Shops on Aviles

The city of St. Augustine is among the largest Main Streets on a list located within the state of Florida. The large number of attractions, restaurants, stores, and  is largely the result of the city's enormous popularity as a major tourist destination. And if you were among those who never heard of St. Augustine, FL and all of the history, or just don't recall those lessons with your history teacher discussing St. Augustine's  fascinating facts that it's the oldest continuously occupied the city in the continental US founded by Europeans. What that means is there is still some pretty historical architecture and even more history, for visitors to enjoy.  The Heritage Walk is a group of shops located on St. George Street in a historic building.

St. George Street is centered to the downtown and could be considered by some as a walking mall. There are many old buildings on St. George Street, that have been restored and split into many storefronts creating a one-stop shopping mall feel, containing shops of different sizes varying small stands to more average size.
St. George's Row, is included in that, as well as Heritage Walk and The Spanish Plaza.  Such a variety of unique local businesses and shops to explore. Since we are so close to the beach, we are never in short supply of tourists drawn to the St. Augustine area, and a vast number of souvenir shops and t-shirt shops everywhere you go.  With all the shops and restaurants will still provide a tremendous quantity of options for everyone visiting.

Shops along St. George StreetPlease, be careful crossing the side streets as cars use them also. Other local shops will be on side streets such as Cuna Street & Hypolita. Heading south on St. George, is Treasury, Cathedral PL, then King Street where other shops and restaurants can be located, near the Hotel, Casa Monica. Down the street, just a couple blocks is the oldest street in the city, historic Aviles Street, a super chic little eclectic neighborhood cobblestoned street and is a quiet option to St. George Street. The city lacks not when it comes to cafes, historic places, galleries, and shops. Although it can be missed by visitors at times, but definitely recommended.
